Some items can be gained by breaking the WATERMELONS that are in each location. Various helpful items are spread throughout the world. Areas can 'loop' into each other, making the two-dimensional OMORI-verse feel uniquely three-dimensional. The player controls a party of four characters who travel through the game's colorful two-dimensional world with no accessible overworld map. OMORI features many traditional RPG elements but contains a very unique battle system.

While OMORI has already been released, any future updates for the game will be posted to the OMORI GAME official website or any listed social media. The overworld and its characters are represented with pixel art while enemy battles, images of items, and important cut scenes are represented with hand-drawn illustrations. The art direction combines pixel art with hand-drawn art. It has been noted that it could also be inspired by Yume Nikki, another independent horror RPGMaker game. OMORI is heavily inspired by the Mother series, specifically EarthBound and Mother 3. He also seems to have forgotten something. He wonders why his friends would want to be with someone horrible like him, but OMORI recalls a time when he was not like this. The game focuses on OMORI, a depressed young boy, going on adventures with his friends and helping others in the world. The game is based around several previous works by OMOCAT, including OMORI'S BLOG, OMORI'S STORY, OMORI's SKETCHBOOK, and an unfinished graphic novel. A Nintendo 3DS port stretch goal for the game was funded, but it was later announced at PLAYISM's pre-Tokyo Game Show 2019 that this port was cancelled and replaced by a Nintendo Switch port. The game was successfully funded on Jvia Kickstarter. The 2020 trailer music was written by bansheebeat (Dylan Browne) and composed by Pedro Silva. It is directed, written, and illustrated independently by OMOCAT and her TEAM, including music by SLIME GIRLS and CLOVER & SEALIFE.

The Indie World Showcase trailer put out a target of spring 2022, so hopefully weвЂ™ll hear another update soon. No dateвЂ™s been set yet for the digital versions, on Switch or PlayStation. If that sounds up your alley, then thereвЂ™s a physical edition of Omori available for pre-order right now. Really, it feels similar in tone to Yume Nikki. It has a style all its own, a battle system that uses charactersвЂ™ mental and emotional state as status effects, and a story that gets pretty dark the further in it gets. ItвЂ™s easy enough to draw comparisons to other offbeat RPGs, from EarthBoundВ to Undertale. This gorgeous, haunting story has picked up a pretty fervent following online. It looks to be a standard edition, with the stark black-and-white art on the front. Originally released for just the PC at the end of 2020, Omoriwill now make its way to consoles. The quirky, colorful, and tonally dark RPG OmoriВ was confirmed for Switch at the end of last DecemberвЂ™s Nintendo Indie World Showcase. ItвЂ™s available for both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions, and Fangamer currently estimates this wonвЂ™t ship until June, as of this writing. And today, Omocat confirms Omori is getting a physical version too.ДЄ physical edition of OmoriВ is currently up for pre-order, both on the Omocat website and Fangamer.
